League of Innovative Schools

Last week, Franklin West Supervisory Union had the privilege of attending the annual spring convening of the League of Innovative Schools, held in the vibrant setting of the Big Apple, New York City. As a proud member of this esteemed league, we were eager to join school leaders from across the country in a gathering dedicated to sharing groundbreaking work and learning from one another's innovative practices.

League of Innovative Schools

The atmosphere was electric as educators, administrators, and thought leaders converged to discuss the future of education. Throughout the event, there was a palpable sense of excitement and inspiration, fueled by the collective passion for transformative change in our schools.

A standout moment came when four members from our very own BFA Fairfax community took the stage to present their pioneering work on proficiencies and flexible pathways. What made this presentation truly special was the inclusion of two students, Peyton Metruk and Ella Ferrone,  among the presenters, lending an authentic student voice to the discussion.

The room was packed with attendees eager to hear about our innovative approaches, and our students rose to the occasion with remarkable confidence and poise. It was a proud moment for our community as we watched our students captivate and impress the audience with their insights and experiences.

Their presentation left a lasting impression, not only on those in attendance but also on the broader educational community. The enthusiasm and passion displayed by our students served as a powerful reminder of the transformative impact that student-centered learning can have.

As we reflect on our experience at the League of Innovative Schools convening, we are filled with gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a dynamic and forward-thinking community. We return home inspired and energized, ready to continue our journey of innovation and excellence in education.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the League of Innovative Schools for organizing this impactful event and to all who attended for their dedication to advancing educational innovation. Together, we are shaping the future of education for the better, one innovative idea at a time.
