The Georgia 7th and 8th-grade Intermediate Spanish classes took a field trip to enjoy authentic Mexican food and a variety of historical and modern artwork on Friday, May 10.
These students work hard all year long to achieve higher levels of listening, reading, speaking, and writing in Spanish. To celebrate their achievement, the classes enjoyed a meal at Casa Real in Colchester, Vermont, and completed an art analysis project at the Fleming Museum on the UVM campus. Students learned stylistic elements of art and interpreted a piece of their choice. One student took the initiative to email the artist and got a response the same day!

“I would describe the field trip as a success. Everyone was respectful and stuck with the group. We also were cautious of the artwork and kind to the employees at both the restaurant and museum.”
“I enjoyed learning about all the paintings and statues.”
“There was so many cool artifacts and art that was very inspiring.”
“I got to taste Spanish food and speak Spanish to people who understood it.”
“I want to give a shout out to my friend group because they made the experience fun.”
“My table had so much fun at the lunch.”
“The restaurant was good for language learning, the staff were able to speak with us in Spanish, and the museum had tons of cultural stuff.”
“I shout-out Chris and Damien, way to take one for the team. Watching you guys burn from the hot sauce was fun.”
Judging by the smiles, the trip was an overall success!
